USTC and Suzhou jointly established the School of Software Engineering and the Nano Science and Technology Institute in 2007 and 2011 respectively, and more than 7,000 graduate students have been trained in Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research. In the next 5 years, the Suzhou Institute will recruit 400 high-level talented personnel from all over the world, including 60-100 Distinguished Young Scholars, Changjiang Scholars, and Excellent Young Scholars. Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research will enhance cooperation with world-class universities and research institutes, meet the needs of industrial development in Suzhou and the Yangtze River Delta, and focus on the emerging disciplines. In the first phase, the focus will be put on four fields, namely, biomedical engineering, advanced materials, data intelligence and business management. The number of students will reach 5000-6000.
