Personal profile:
Rui Gao, PhD, born in January 1992. She obtained her Master's and PhD degrees from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and Ghent University in Belgium, respectively. In 2021, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences(SIAT, CAS), and joined the Water Environment Laboratory at the Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research (SIAR) in May 2023. She has been awarded the Shenzhen Peacock Overseas High-level Talent Class C and currently serves as a Junior Editorial Board Member for the international journal Reviews of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology (RECT). Her main research areas include the recycling and recovery of metal resources from spent lithium batteries. Her related achievements have been published as the first author in renowned journals and conferences in the field of resource recovery and application, such as Water Research, Resources, Conservation and Recycling, and IWA Resource & Recovery. She has also participated as a core member in several projects on metal resource recovery and reuse initiated by the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO), Leuven University in Belgium, the research team of Professor Bruce E. Logan, and British Petroleum (BP).

Recycling of metal resources from spent lithium batteries and metal-rich wastewater.
Electrochemical wastewater treatment technology and engineering applications.
