From December 16th to December 17th, 2024, the "2024 Annual AI Materials Science Conference," hosted by the Frontier Interdisciplinary Optoelectronic Innovation Center of SIAR, USTC, was successfully held.

The conference focused on the intersection and integration of cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies with materials science, and facilitated extensive exchanges on the latest advances and scientific achievements in related fields in recent years.

Sixteen eminent scholars from institutions such as Jilin University, Nanjing University, Suzhou Laboratory, Fudan University, Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Soochow University and Deep Potential Technology attended the conference. The event was chaired by Professor Zhong Zhicheng from the School of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, USTC.

The conference began with a warm welcome to all participants. Professor Jiang Jianhua then introduced the team members of the Frontier Interdisciplinary Optoelectronic Innovation Center, the research foundation, and the optimistic prospects of combining data intelligence with materials development, officially opening the conference.

During the academic presentation session, Professor Lü Jian from Jilin University kicked off with a report entitled "Machine Learning Accelerates Crystal Structure Prediction", which detailed the significant contributions and methods of machine learning in crystal structure prediction. Subsequently, other participating representatives delivered compelling academic reports, sparking lively discussions among the attendees.

This academic exchange, which jointly discusses the key scientific issues and challenges facing the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Enabled Material Science, promotes the exchange and cooperation of young scholars in the field in China, and is of great significance for better exploring the development trend of physics, data intelligence and material science.
