On the afternoon of May 24, Robert Reddy, Vice President for Enrollment Management at Saint Louis University, led a delegation to visit the Suzhou Institute for Advanced Study. Shen Yizhu, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), met with the delegation. Other participants in the meeting included Tao Xiaodong, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Laboratory at the School of Software Engineering, Zeng Liuyi, Director of the Comprehensive Office of the Education and Teaching Department at SIAR, Zhou Xuan, a faculty representative from the Education and Teaching Department, and Bao Xuejiao, a faculty representative from the School of Software Engineering.
Shen Yizhu extended a warm welcome to the Saint Louis University delegation and pointed out that the collaboration between USTC and Saint Louis University is beneficial for cultivating high-quality international talents. The establishment of the Saint Louis University China Center has promoted educational and academic collaboration at the school level. Moving forward, both sides will continue to explore cooperation models, aiming to achieve mutual benefits and shared success.
Robert Reddy provided an introduction to the history and educational philosophy of Saint Louis University. He expressed sincere gratitude for the contributions made by the government, schools, and organizations in facilitating this cooperation. He emphasized that this collaboration would foster intellectual exchanges between Chinese and American students, facilitate cultural sharing between the two countries, and jointly enhance students' skills and broaden their horizons.
Following this, Jia Wei, Director of Strategy and Development for the Asia-Pacific Region at Saint Louis University, introduced the collaborative summer and winter camp programs established between the university and the School of Software Engineering and the School of Biomedical Engineering. He also confirmed plans for future student exchange visits.
Finally, the delegation toured the model planning area of SIAR.
After the meeting, Robert Reddy, Vice President for Enrollment Management at Saint Louis University, Sundar Kumarasamy, Senior Strategic Development Advisor, and Guo Yan, a faculty member of the School of Software Engineering at USTC, organized a Sino-American Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Salon. The salon mainly focused on sharing the differences between the Chinese and American education systems, the modes of youth exchange, and insights into entrepreneurship among American entrepreneurs. Students engaged in lively discussions, creating a warm and interactive atmosphere.
