From April 11 to April 13, 2024, the“2024 Materials Physics Innovation Forum,”organized by the Frontier Innovation Center for Materials Physics at SIAR, USTC, was successfully held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. The forum featured extensive academic exchanges on cutting-edge topics such as low-dimensional materials, artificial intelligence and quantum states, phonon physics, and functional materials and devices.

At the start of the meeting, Dean Tu Jing, the Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of SIAR, USTC, extended a warm welcome to the attending experts, teachers, and students. He also provided a detailed introduction to the history, current development, and future plans of the Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research. Following that, Professor Jiang Jianhua, the organizer of the forum, introduced the construction plan for the “Frontier Innovation Center for Materials Physics”at SIAR, officially marking the beginning of the conference.
During the academic presentation session, the first speaker, Academician Li Baowen from Southern University of Science and Technology, gave a talk titled: “Non-reciprocal Heat Transfer/Thermal Diode and Its Applications,” which detailed how thermal diodes can enhance solid-state cooling efficiency and reduce the size of solid-state cooling devices.
The two-day academic exchange promoted the interdisciplinary integration of physics, data intelligence, materials science, and other fields. It played a significant role in exploring the development trends in materials science and physics. Thus, the 2024 Materials Physics Innovation Forum concluded successfully!
