On April 10, Ian Burnett, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of STEM College and Vice-President of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, along with Pro Vice-Chancellor and Distinguished Professor Charlie Xue, visited the Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research. Xue Tian, Assistant to the President of USTC, Chu Jiaru, Special Assistant to the President and Executive Dean of SIAR, Zhang Jie, Chair Professor and member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, Qu Kun, Director of Office of International Cooperation, Zhou Shaohua, Executive Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering, as well as other faculty representatives, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Jie.
Xue Tian welcomed the delegation from RMIT, expressing hopes that this visit would serve as an opportunity to promote collaboration between the two universities in scientific research and high-level talent development.
Qu Kun introduced the delegation to the basic situation of USTC and SIAR, including their achievements in discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, and international cooperation.
RMIT's Pro Vice-Chancellor Charlie Xue gave an overview of RMIT's development, its international cooperation with overseas and Chinese universities, and expressed a strong commitment to promote comprehensive collaboration between USTC and RMIT.
During the discussions, the two sides engaged in in-depth conversations on cooperation models, joint student training, and research project collaborations.
After the meeting, the delegation toured the exhibition hall of the Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research, visited the biomedical engineering laboratories, and viewed the construction site of the research center.
