On March 3rd, Professor Flemming Besenbacher, Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Aarhus University in Denmark, along with Professor K. M. Liew, Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Director of the Center for Bionic Engineering at City University of Hong Kong, Professor Dong Mingdong from Aarhus University, Professor Su Ren from Soochow University, and Researcher Shen Yanbin from the Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, visited the Institute of Medical Device Innovation (iMED) at SIAR, USTC. Chu Jiaru, Special Assistant to the President of USTC and Executive Dean of the SIAR, Xu Xiaorong, Director of Human Resources at SIAR, Pan Tingrui, Executive Director of iMED, along with researchers Yang Liang, Dai Yitao, Ye Haihang, and other relevant personnel, participated in the meeting.
Dean Chu Jiaru warmly welcomed Academician Flemming Besenbacher and expressed gratitude for his support during the European visit of the Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research. Academician Besenbacher shared his high expectations for this visit and expressed his hope for fu ture communication and strengthened collaboration between both parties in the scientific community. Professors Pan Tingrui, Xu Xiaorong, and Researcher Yang Liang introduced the research conducted at iMED. Professor Dong Mingdong presented his research on pain signal transmission and engaged in lively discussions with the scholars and young faculty members present.
At the same time, Dean Chu Jiaru presented Academician Besenbacher with the appointment letter for iMED's Chief Scientific Advisor, looking forward to further collaboration and exchanges between both parties.
After the meeting, Academician Besenbacher and his delegation toured iMED's advanced manufacturing platform, the iMIND lab, the MBIT lab, and other facilities. Professor Xu Xiaorong introduced the development history and future plans of the SIAR and had a talk with students.
