On March 13th and 14th, Prof. Li Xiangyang, Executive Dean of Department of Information and Intelligence, USTC, and Pei Shibao, Director of the Office of the School of Computer Science and Technology, visited SIAR. They were accompanied by Ni Rui, Vice President of SIAR.
On the morning of the 14th, a research symposium was held in the conference room 1510 of the Zhide Building. Chu Jiaru, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of USTC, and Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Dean of SIAR, Tu Jing, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of SIAR, Wu Huihui, Deputy Director of Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee (SIPAC), Chen Huaping, Dean of the School of Software, and Deputy Deans Wang Yang and Wang Chao attended the meeting. The heads of relevant departments of SIAR and teacher representatives of the data intelligence team also attended the meeting.

Chu Jiaru introduced the development of SIAR in terms of historical evolution, system and mechanism, discipline construction, talent introduction and campus construction. He said that the School of Software is an important talent training institute which has been supporting the development of SIAR and has always been supported by the Faculty of Information and Intelligence and the School of Computer Science and Technology. He hoped that based on the industrial development of Suzhou, the Faculty and relevant Schools will leverage existing resources and policies to give full play to the advantages of computer talent training, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.
Chen Huaping introduced the current situation and construction plan of the School of Software from the aspects of discipline construction, team building, student training, and industry integration. Ni Rui said that when training senior students, the School of Software can strengthen the two-way selection of teachers and students, introduce incentive mechanisms, and then form a characteristic scale system. Professor Chen Jingrun from the data intelligence team introduced the ideas of artificial intelligence and data science research.
Li Xiangyang said that the Faculty of Information and Intelligence will continue to promote the development of the discipline of software engineering. First, it will clarify the direction of the discipline development, focusing on major national strategic needs, and planning the discipline based on a strategic position; second, it will strengthen the team of the teaching staff, giving full play to the “advertising and aggregation effect” of existing talent team, and recruiting leading talents; third, it will enhance the output of representative scientific research and academic achievements, and expand the influence of the discipline; fourth, it will promote the construction of major platforms, striving to build an international industrial platform, so as to support the development of the discipline.
The participants also discussed on discipline construction, teaching staff, talent training, scientific research output, and platform construction.
On the afternoon of the 14th, Li Xiangyang and his delegation visited Suzhou International Science Park (SISPARK). Zheng Jun, Manager at SIP Science & Technology Development Co., Ltd., introduced in detail the development of the artificial intelligence industry in the Park and the innovative achievements of enterprises, and presented leading artificial intelligence companies in the fields of “AI+manufacturing”, “AI+medical”, “AI+finance”, “AI+government affairs”, “AI+cultural tourism” and “AI+logistics”. Li Xiangyang said that the Faculty of Information and Intelligence of the University of Science and Technology of China has a strong disciplinary foundation, and there are many alumni enterprises and scientists. He hoped to strengthen cooperation with enterprises in the Park to enhance the cluster effect of artificial intelligence industry innovation.
