On June 22, 2022, a visiting mission from USTC's Division of Life Sciences and Medicine led by Shi Yunyu, academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), and Prof. Liu Haiyan, who was sponsored by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China, arrived in Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research (SIAR) for a symposium on biomedicine. The symposium was chaired by Prof. Xu Xiaorong from USTC's School of Biomedical Engineering, and attended by CPC USTC Standing Committee Member Chu Jiarui (who also serves as the Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Dean of SIAS), SIAR Vice Dean Ni Rui, Director of SIAR’s Research Department Li Jun, Prof. Pan Tingrui and Prof. Xu Xiaorong from USTC's School of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Chen Jingrun from USTC's School of Mathematical Sciences, and Research Fellow Qin Jianhua from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS.

This visit covered the exhibition hall of Mingde Building, the Intelligent Medical Device Research Center and the Medical Imaging Intelligence & Robotics Research Center to acquaint these professors with their research fields, progress and achievements.

At the subsequent symposium, Mr. Chu extended a warm welcome to Mr. Shi and his mission, and detailed the construction progress of SIAR.
They also had a heated discussion on scientific research cooperation. Going forward, SIAR will partner with the Division of Life Sciences and Medicine to strengthen scientific research, optimize the strategy of bringing in needed personnel, and push forward the implementation of scientific achievements through the School of Biomedical Engineering.
