On June 18, 2022, Bao Xinhe, President of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, paid a research visit to Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research (SIAR), USTC. The research was attended by CPC USTC Standing Committee member Chu Jiarui (who also serves as the Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Dean of SIAR), SIAR Vice Presidents Tu Jing and Ni Rui, Zhan Yuehong and Li Jun from the SIAR Construction Working Group, Head of Finance Department Wu Junmin, Prof. Zhou Shaohua, Prof. Pan Tingrui, Prof. Xu Xiaorong, Prof. Chen Jingrun, and several SIAR postgraduates.
President Bao's first part of call in SIAR was the exhibition hall of the Mingde Building, where he posed for pictures with these participants after they had an in-depth exchange of views.
With great interest, President Bao then learned about the institute construction through SIAR's construction sandtray, and expressed his gratitude to the construction working group for their dedication.
President Bao also stepped into the Intelligent Medical Device Research Center and the Medical Imaging Intelligence & Robotics Research Center for on-site research. After getting insight into the laboratories, their research fields, progress and results, he shared his thinking with the relevant persons in charge of each laboratory, while acknowledging the significant milestones in construction. Finally, he highlighted the goals for the next development of the laboratories by calling on furthering the team building, improving research conditions, giving full play to scientific research and talent training, and thereby making contributions to USTC's Double First Class University Plan.
