To further gather exceptional talents from home and abroad and advance disciplinary building and academic exchanges, the 1st Global Youth Academic Forum & Micius Branch Forum were held by SIAR at Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) on March 14th, 2022.

In compliance with the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, the whole forum was held online. Major participants from SIAR include CHU Jiaru, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC and Executive Dean of SIAR, TU Jing & NI Rui, Deputy Dean of SIAR, ZHAN Yuehong, member of the working group, WU Junmin, Director of Finance Department, and other professors, experts and relevant faculty. Some leaders of Suzhou Industrial Park also attended the opening ceremony, which was hosted by Prof. XU Xiaorong, Director of Talents Office, SIAR.

Dean CHU Jiaru introduced the discipline development, research platform and infrastructure of SIAR to the participants. Additionally, he sincerely invited young talents to learn more about SIAR, USTC and hoped that they would join and work here together for their common academic pursuits.

There were four sessions in the forum for biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence and big data, nanotechnology and advanced materials, and interdisciplinary studies respectively, in which outstanding young talents from globally prestigious universities such as Oxford University, Cambridge University, Stanford University, and well-known enterprises such as Facebook gave 3 major reports, 7 keynote reports and 50 reports from young scholars.

During the forum, Academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chair Professors of Cheung Kong Scholars, distinguished overseas young talents and other experts and chief scientists from famous enterprises shared their academic achievements and their feelings about working and living in Suzhou. On the day before the forum (Mar. 13th), the participants first had experienced the cultural inheritance and the academic atmosphere of USTC by a series of activities.

This forum promises to bring together outstanding scholars from home and abroad over cloud to share their scientific progress, exchange their ideas and enlighten one another, laying the foundation for SIAR to better pool talents and improve its platform for domestic innovative entrepreneurial talents.

SIAR will keep offering in-depth academic exchanging platforms for talents from home and abroad and warmly welcome all of them to join hands with SIAR.
